Terms of Service

Last updated: 23 July 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of LayerCall's website and API (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms for it.

The Service

LayerCall provides an API that returns risk signals and scores for inputs such as IP addresses, emails, phone numbers, and domains. The scores are probabilistic signals intended to help you make decisions — they are not a guarantee, and you remain responsible for the actions you take based on them.

Accounts

  • You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • You are responsible for keeping your API keys secret and for all activity under your account. Rotate or revoke keys if they are exposed.
  • You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to violate anyone's rights.
  • Use results to unlawfully discriminate against individuals, or as the sole automated basis for decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on a person without human review, where such review is required by law.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the raw data or feeds underlying the Service, except the scores and signals returned to you for your own use.
  • Circumvent rate limits, quotas, or security measures, or probe the Service for vulnerabilities without permission.
  • Submit data you do not have the legal right to process.

Your data responsibilities

You are responsible for having a lawful basis to submit any personal data (such as end-user IPs or emails) to the Service, and for complying with applicable privacy laws in your use of the results. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle data.

Plans, billing & free tier

  • The free tier includes a monthly allotment of lookups at no cost. When it is reached, requests are limited until the next cycle or until you upgrade.
  • Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly basis through our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, acting as merchant of record. Usage beyond your plan's included lookups may be billed at the published overage rate for your plan.
  • You can cancel anytime; cancellation stops future renewals. Except where required by law, payments already made are non-refundable.
  • Cached and test-mode lookups do not count toward billing.
  • We may change pricing with reasonable notice; changes do not affect the current paid period.

Service availability

We work to keep the Service reliable but provide it on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation unless a separate service-level agreement applies to your plan.

Disclaimer & limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LayerCall disclaims all warranties, express or implied. LayerCall will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim arising out of the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the three months before the claim.

Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm to others or to the Service.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date, and continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in India will have jurisdiction, except where mandatory local consumer law provides otherwise.
